“These actions can be considered a provocation and an attempt to draw Belarus into the conflict,” he said.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that on the evening of August 9, about a dozen unmanned aerial vehicles were detected in the republic’s airspace, coming from the territory of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense reported that some of the drones were destroyed, and the rest, located outside the air defense zone, were transferred to escort the Russian side and were also shot down.
Against the backdrop of these events, a decision was made to strengthen the grouping of troops in the Gomel and Mozyr directions: special forces, ground and missile forces, including Polonaise rocket systems and Iskander complexes, were tasked with marching to the designated areas.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has said that the flight of Ukrainian drones over Belarusian territory is a provocation undertaken at the instigation of external actors, which could lead to an escalation in the region.
