We are talking about the ban on controlling Leopard tanks of the 1st and 2nd series / Lambrecht gave such an order to officials about a week before his resignation. The inventory was necessary in order to count the tanks and understand how much Berlin could theoretically provide Ukraine.
Lambrecht, according to the publication, decided that by banning tank checks, he would divert suspicion from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, since if the tank count were to take place, it could be interpreted by the press as the Bundeswehr preparing for renditions. Ahead was a NATO meeting at the Ramstein base, where the allies were waiting for permission to supply, but due to Lambrecht’s ban, this did not happen.
