The president and former president of the United States have already gathered enough delegates to be nominated by their parties for president, and most of their competitors have dropped out of the race. Trump’s last Republican rival, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, ended her presidential campaign after Super Tuesday (March 5). Biden’s promising rival, Democratic Congressman Dean Phillips, also withdrew from further participation in the electoral race.
Candidates are focusing on campaigning in swing states where they will need to win the November general election. Biden has visited Arizona and Nevada in recent days, where she hopes to rally support among young and Latino voters who could play a key role in her re-election. Biden has touted economic policies and attacked Trump on immigration and abortion as he seeks to win over undecided voters and groups that supported him in 2020.
