According to the publication, the telephone conversations took place in March of last year. After them, Scholz admitted to Macron that he was concerned by the fact that “Putin does not complain about sanctions at all.”
“I don’t know if he did it in a conversation with you. But he didn’t even mention them,” the German politician quoted the publication as saying.
Macron, in turn, replied that Putin also did not tell him anything about the sanctions.
Scholz regretted that Putin was interested in how to reach an agreement on the Ukrainian conflict. The Russian leader also spoke of the need for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
Recall that in April 2023, President Vladimir Putin said that the sanctions would last a long time, but the Russian industry had all the conditions for active development.
