Microsoft founder says he’s optimistic about the future of the plant-based meat industry
According to American billionaire Bill Gates, the issue of humanity’s transition to artificial meat lies exclusively in the financial plane: if alternative products cost significantly less than natural ones, it will find its buyer.
The Microsoft founder said he is optimistic about the future of the plant-based meat industry.
“There are companies producing beef in a new way, and people working to continue using cows, but reducing methane emissions,” Bill Gates explained confidently.
He also said that over time, plant-based meat products will be much more in demand than they are now, but not entirely because a large part of the population will rush to go vegan. Only high-quality and inexpensive food will conquer the market, and at the moment everything depends on the cost of such products.
“If it costs too much, we won’t be successful,” the billionaire believes, adding that organic products should at least equal the price of “dirty” ones to begin with.
