Bloomberg: Czech Republic proposes to EU countries to reduce the proposed gas price ceiling to 188 euros – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: June 1, 2023 Time: 18:31:47

According to a document obtained by the agency, the Czech government proposes to reduce the maximum price from 275 euros per MWh to 188 euros per MWh, reports RIA Novosti. According to the Prague project, the gas market adjustment mechanism is activated if the contract prices for the coming month and year in the European TTF gas center index exceed 188 euros per MWh for three days.

The energy ministers of the EU countries will consider this proposal on December 19 at a meeting in Brussels.

Recall that on December 15, the EU leaders failed to agree on the limit price for gas and the principle of common purchases of blue fuel. As noted in the final communiqué, the adoption of a final decision on this issue has been postponed until the scheduled meeting of the Council of the European Union in Brussels, to be held on December 19.

Earlier, a group of 12 countries that make up the European Union filed a lawsuit to lower the proposed price cap for gas from Russia in order to mitigate the impact of the energy crisis on consumers and businesses. States, including Belgium, Greece, Italy and Poland, submitted this proposal four days before an emergency meeting of EU energy ministers, where they were scheduled to agree on this issue.
