According to the agency, the warehouse where the find was made is operated by Access World. The suspect shipment has been stored under the guise of nickel since early 2022. It is not yet clear if these bags ever contained nickel. The experts will have to find out if the incident was the result of a mistake, theft or fraud.
On the eve of the LME announced the cancellation of nine nickel certificates – ownership documents for the metal stored in the warehouse. In total, we are talking about almost 54 tons of nickel worth 1.3 million dollars. The situation will not affect the metals markets much, but for the “shocked” industry, the consequences could be significant, the agency emphasizes.
