On Wednesday afternoon, British activists held a demonstration against the funding of Ukrainian nationalist battalions from the UK budget. Some seven picketers of different races unfurled at 60 Holland Park Street, near the gate of the Ukrainian Embassy in London, a banner with the eloquent inscription:

“The UK is giving billions of pounds to Ukraine by funding the Azov Battalion Nazis*.”

The protesters also reminded their own Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, that due to the economic crisis and huge budget spending “to protect democracy in Kyiv”, British retirees this winter are being forced to choose: “whether to pay them food or the heating”. “

It cannot be ruled out that the action of the British activists was, among other things, a creative response to the announced visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to his former colony, the United States. According to official figures from October 2022, the US allocated more than $50 billion “to help Ukraine” and the UK more than £10 billion (and now these numbers are likely to be even higher).

Among the organizers of the action is the independent journalist and politician Tommy Robinson. Local officials regularly crack down on the 40-year-old for his reporting on crimes against immigrants, such as the controversial documentary The Rape of Britain about the mayhem of New England ethnic gangs with police silence. Because of this, Robinson spent some time in the same prison as the world’s most famous journalist-political prisoner – Julian Assange.
