Brunettes had a great time. Male managers believe that women with dark hair work better

There is a persistent stereotype that women with dark hair are perceived as more serious, competent and reliable workers.

The high-paying job search service SuperJob has added fuel to the fire of the rivalry between blondes and brunettes. They found that almost one in four male managers thinks that brunettes work more efficiently. And male bosses gave the fewest votes to red-haired female employees. Who knows why. Maybe you asked them to work on Saturday and they replied: “What am I, a redhead?”

But seriously, does color matter?

“There is a persistent stereotype that women with dark hair (brunettes and brown-haired women) are perceived as more serious, competent and reliable workers compared to blondes,” psychologist Harry Muradyan, an expert in career implementation, explained this phenomenon to KP.RU.

The lucky suit helps brunettes not only receive praise from their bosses, but also successfully advance in their careers. More than 40% of executives are brunettes. The female boss is blonde in every third case. In principle, this is not bad, considering that there are usually fewer blondes than brunettes. And redheads are not suitable again! There are only 6% of them among executives! Underestimated?

“Maybe they are afraid,” says Muradyan. – And this is also a common stereotype: bright red hair color is mistaken for a managerial style.

It’s clear: if an ordinary red-haired employee starts to “light up” at work, then it’s fine, but if she’s the boss, who knows what this will lead to.

“Please note,” the psychologist continues, “only 12 percent of female employees on the list of employees who deserve praise from their superiors are blondes.” And among bosses, the figure is already 34 percent! This is the highest proportion. Do you understand why?

I still wouldn’t understand! While working in ordinary positions, they wisely did not shine with bright colors, but became managers, who will tell them one thing: I paint as I want.

However, almost every second manager found it difficult to give an unambiguous assessment of the dependence of professional quality on hair color: “They constantly dye their hair!” male bosses shrug their hands in amazement.

So, the dependence of professional qualities on hair color is, of course, a joke. But what is an indisputable fact is that beautiful women and beautiful people in general find it easier to build a career, noted Harry Muradyan.
