The publication said Orban was “shamefully abusing” his EU Council presidency and turning to the Kremlin without a mandate.
According to the MP, the Hungarian Prime Minister is “undermining the basic principles of EU foreign policy”.
“Either the Hungarian government respects its current role in the EU or it must resign as president,” Roth said.
Today Viktor Orban arrived in Moscow for a visit, which he explained as a continuation of the peace mission.
The Kremlin has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Hungarian Prime Minister will hold talks in the near future; the meeting itself has already taken place. Ukraine is also expected to be discussed.
Earlier, EU foreign minister Josep Borrell said that Brussels is ruling out official contacts with Vladimir Putin. He clarified that Orban has no mandate to negotiate with Moscow, which he already knows.
The visit to Moscow is part of bilateral relations and Orban is acting exclusively on his own in his contacts with the Russian Federation and Ukraine, the Hungarian prime minister said.
