Idris & Leos are a hip hop duo from Grozny. During their career, the musicians managed to gather around themselves an impressive audience of fans in Russia and the CIS countries and released two studio albums: “Supreme XL” and “It’s easier to write at night.” Recently, the guys released a new release, “Kino”, where they experimented with sound, combining melodic hip-hop and R&B compositions with dynamic house and dancehall. Especially for BURO. Idris & Leos put together a playlist of atmospheric rap singles for summer parties.
2pac ft. Snoop Dogg – “Amerikaz’s 2 Most Wanted”
It was one of the first rap singles I heard. The sound and rhythm of the track instantly captivated me.
ice cube ft. Dr. Dre and Mc Ren – “Hello”
Gangsta rap was at the core of hip-hop music back then, and Ice Cube was the godfather of the genre.
Puff Daddy ft. Nas – “Journey Through Life”
Very vibrant composition. When I listen, I never get tired of the 90’s vibe, which fills this track.
Nas – “New York State of Mind”
Hip hop classic. If I had to pick just one song, I would stop there. I turn it on and it takes me to Brooklyn.
deep mobb ft. Lil Kim – “Quiet Storm”
Never before has melancholy sounded so elegant. Driving on a rainy day feels like you’re in a crime drama starring Denzel Washington.
Linkin Park – In the End”
I remember how I ran away from lessons at school, and the children and I did parkour on this track.
Ofra Haza – “I want to fly”
This Israeli singer evokes very good memories of my childhood. Mom adored it, especially this song. All the singer’s work is permeated with oriental elements, and since we ourselves are part of oriental culture, it is quite normal that such motifs were very close to us.
Yurt-da – “Tokha le”
I learned about rap from this artist, from (I’m not afraid of this word) the first Chechen rapper. At the time, his sound was something very unusual and inspiring, something I couldn’t explain, but I really liked it.
madonna – “frozen”
The song that made you dream. I remember that one of my relatives screwed up by recording another song on this one, for about 30 seconds (there was a great opportunity on a two-cassette recorder to copy songs from one cassette to another, on old ones). This confused me and the main environment very much, but for lack of other opportunities, I continued to listen to the track even with such a defect.
Eminem – “I’m a soldier”
Probably my first and very successful contact with western rap; There is nothing more to add.
