He stressed that he does not see “particularly happy prospects in relations with Germany” as the Germans stick to a single line with the EU and the United States.
Bystritsky, however, mentioned that there are certain forces in Germany that could change the situation in the long run. In his opinion, there are big differences between the opinions of German citizens and the country’s political elite regarding relations with Russia and the situation in Ukraine.
Bystritsky emphasized that “German society is far from united, certain parts of it are not very inclined towards reckless support for Ukraine.” He raised the difficult question of how influential the opposition forces are in Germany and how much they can put pressure on the country’s authorities. But, the politician believes, “there is some hope that there will be some kind of authorization.”
He called the premiere of Scholz “a complex figure” who “herself, of course, is not particularly pleased with what is happening now, she does not like it.”
