The CAF Group obtains two new orders and continues to grow in the national and international sector. This time it has been done with a contract for an amount of more than 100 million euros, with which it will supply 31 trams to the operator BKK in Budapest, Hungary, and another six units to the Junta de Andalucía that will allocate them to the Sevillian town of Alcala de Guadaira.

As reported by CAF, the Hungarian contract entails the execution of an extension option to an initial contract that will entail the supply of 31 new trams, 26 of them made up of five modules and another five of nine modules, which in addition to two sets of equipment and additional services.

The original contract dates from 2014 and provided for the supply of 37 units with the option of increasing the number in future expansions. The supplied trams have a low floor, which facilitates access for people with reduced mobility, wheelchairs and baby carriages, and are designed to run at a service speed of 50 km/h.

Budapest has an extensive network made up of nearly 40 tram lines, some of which have the highest volume of passengers in all of Europe, a reason that gives special “importance” to the fact that this city “replaces its trust in the CAF Group.

It so happens that, in addition to the trams, a “large number” of Solaris trolleybuses also currently operates in the Magyar capital, since since 2014 this same client has closed orders for a volume of more than 108 trollino model vehicles .

The second contract closed by CAF in recent times corresponds to an award by the Junta de Andalucía for the manufacture of six units for the Alcalá de Guadaíra tramway. The contract also includes maintenance work on the units for a period of two years, as well as the supply of spare parts for the trams.

Five of the trains are expected to serve the network in that town, while a sixth unit will be available in depots to be able to provide a synchronized service with line 1 of the Seville Metro, with which it will connect at the Pablo de Olavide, located next to the University that gives its name to the station.
