The Executive does not hide its annoyance at Ferrovial’s decision to move its headquarters to the Netherlands to facilitate its entry into the US stock market and attract more financing. The Government’s economic vice-president, Nadia Calviño, insisted this Thursday that the Government and the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) are going to study the arguments put forward by Ferrovial. She has thus assured it during an interview on Onda Cero and that she has published by Europa Press.
On the possibility that the Executive could modify the regulation so that Ferrovial can be listed simultaneously on the New York Stock Exchange and on the Ibex, Calviño explained that “the argument put forward by the company will be analyzed” and that the CNMV will also ” is studying” the movement of the construction group.
In any case, the number of the Government has denied any pressure for Ferrovial to maintain its headquarters in Spain and, although it has said that the transfer is an internal decision of the company, it has once again made it clear that it does not like this announcement since it understood as a “lack of commitment to Spain” on the part of “a company that owes so much to Spain”. For Calviño it is “a gesture that, in my opinion, is wrong.”
He also does not believe that government policies had anything to do with this decision and has maintained that the group’s decision to move its registered office to the Netherlands “has nothing to do with the government.” He has also insisted that “companies have done very well with this government.” Calviño has defended that the Executive has developed a policy favorable to economic growth and employment, “unprecedented protection” for companies and also against the impact of the war. “My concern is that there is not a change of government,” he added.
Montero: Maintain the investment volume
For her part, the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, publicly asked during a forum organized by Comisiones Obreras in Seville “to reconsider this position and, above all, that the volume of investment and jobs that it has in this country be maintained, as this company has committed”. She has also rejected that this movement is trying to be associated with other issues such as legal certainty in Spain, it seems to her “that it does not correspond to the reality that this company has wanted to convey.”
