It was not just a show, but a real party dedicated to Roberto Cavalli, who passed away in April this year in Florence. Taking into account Cavalli’s love for parties and noisy events, Fausto Puglisi brought Mariacarla Boscono, Isabeli Fontana, Natasha Poly, Karen Elson, Eva Herzigova and others to the catwalk, in Amazonian dresses straight from the 2000s, for which the late designer was famous.
But these very dresses here were the exception rather than the rule, because most of the collection was largely inspired by the spirit of Puglisi himself. He chose his native Messina in Sicily as the starting point. Hence the series of all-white looks, inspired by the houses of the city, and details in the form of flagella and ropes (handles on bags, belts, straps on tops, connecting the details of the dresses), which pointed to their location near the sea. We saw mesh dresses with cups of crumpled silk; trench coats, which in turn are this mesh and bedspreads; fringes on long leather jackets. There was also python (the brand’s team sewed entire outfits from it) and laconic cut dresses made of “marble”, referring to the previous collection. We saw photographs of sunsets that covered the products from head to toe, several looks in all shades of the sea and mermaid dresses perfect for the end of the show.
