CCOO de Industria has stated that the situation of the possible purchase of Talgo by the Hungarian group Magyar Vagon is of “utmost concern”, today that the Government is meeting with the management of Talgo and with the Hungarians to make a decision on approval of this offer. The union has asked all of them that the decisions they make be “from a vision that is not only political and economic, but also industrial and future-oriented, most beneficial to the interests of the thousands of people who work in Talgo directly and indirectly.”
The union has made its position clear in the meeting that was held this afternoon with the Hungarian investor and a representation of the unions in Talgo and has stated that the rights of the people who work at Talgo must be preserved. “The future must be clearly defined in an industrial plan that, despite the doubts and uncertainties that the staff may have about their future after the various announcements by Magyar Vagon to undertake a takeover bid for Talgo, guaranteeing that the planned investments will be executed “, he highlights in a statement issued at the end of the meeting.
“Talgo is a company with leading technology and a need to release all of its manufacturing capacity and orders. This must be reflected in an industrial plan that contains solutions to immediate challenges and those in the medium and long term,” Has explained. Likewise, in the event that the takeover bid does not ultimately go ahead, the union has requested that work begin quickly “on the needs of a strategic company for the country and of utmost importance for the railway sector in Spain.”
