ChatGPT Passes Wharton College Professor’s Exam

Date: June 5, 2023 Time: 15:56:47

Last November 2022, the North American research company OpenAI launched the free chatbot ChatGPT worldwide. Its arrival has revolutionized many sectors and that this artificial intelligence is capable of answering any question that is posed by offering broad and consistent matches. However, it has some barriers, since it only processes information up to the year 2021.

Many companies plan to introduce it into their tools or invest in creating their own versions. In fact, Microsoft has made a million-dollar investment of 10,000 million dollars in the OpenIA company itself. While Google is working on creating a chatbot that works with its search engine to try to compete with this new tool, WhatsApp already allows it to be integrated into its chats.

Now a new study points to the potential of this service in the field of education. And it is that an investigation by university professor Christian Terwiesch of the Wharton Business School has shown that ChatGPT-3 has managed to pass one of its exams.

Automate worker skills

Specifically, artificial intelligence has passed the final exam of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at this university with a good grade. “The bot score shows a remarkable ability to automate some of the skills of workers in general and specifically in those positions held by MBA graduates, including analysts, managers, and consultants,” Terwiesch says in his research.

This chatbot solves basic operations and answers process analysis questions, even those based on case studies. According to the expert, his explanations were excellent. Many professionals in the field of education have expressed their concern with this type of tools and even open the possibility for many students to cheat on their exams. New York’s own educational department has prohibited this service from being installed on the devices and networks of the city’s public schools.

Despite having passed this exam, it should be noted that the teacher points out that Chat GPT-3 has made errors in relatively simple mathematical calculations at the level of a 6th grade student. Also, the version is not capable of handling more advanced process analysis questions, even when based on standard templates.
