The Russian S-500 anti-aircraft missile (SAM) system can currently be called the most powerful in the world. This opinion was expressed by analysts from the Chinese portal Sohu.
The article noted that Russia, after the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, immediately began to develop a new S-500 air defense system. “Its release reflects the foresight of the military decision to focus on the development of anti-aircraft missile systems,” the authors of the material write.
In the material, the S-500 air defense system is called the new “shield” of Russia’s future aerospace defense, which can be seen as a powerful response to the US strategy. It is noted that this complex can not only intercept ballistic missiles, as well as other enemy targets, but at the same time can also become a threat to spacecraft and low-orbit satellites.
According to the authors of the article, the S-500 should be “the basis of the Russian aerospace defense system and lead a new generation of anti-aircraft missile systems.”
Recall that at the end of April this year, Almaz-Antey announced the launch of the S-500 system into mass production, noting that this air defense system could become the basis of the Russian aerospace defense system.
