On Wednesday in Beijing, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin held talks with the leaders of the People’s Republic of China: the country’s leader Xi Jinping and his colleague, State Council Premier Li Qiang.

Government delegations from the two countries met in the Great Hall of the People in Tiananmen Square. This building for political meetings is considered the largest in the world. An honor guard lined up in front of the entrance, a military band played the anthems of the two countries. After that, Mishustin and Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China walked the red carpet inside the building.

In the talks, they discussed expanding economic cooperation between Russia and China, including in energy, transportation and agriculture.

As Mishustin noted, Russia ranks first in the supply of oil to China, exports of natural gas, coal and electricity are growing. Chinese companies are involved in major Russian energy projects: Power of Siberia, Yamal-LNG, Arktik-LNG-2, the Amur Gas Chemical Plant, the gas processing complex in Ust-Luga.

– We are actively expanding our cooperation in the field of peaceful atom, – said the prime minister.

One of the tasks Mishustin called the development of transport and logistics routes passing through the Russian-Chinese border in order to increase the volume of cargo transportation.

Mishustin named aircraft building, shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, machine tool building and joint space research as promising areas for developing cooperation with China.

As a result of the negotiations, five documents were signed, including a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for millet exported from Russia to China. China is ready to buy wheat, barley, buckwheat, oats, sunflower, flax, peas and other agricultural products from Russia. In addition, a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for medicinal plant raw materials for Chinese medicine exported from Russia was signed, as well as a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China on deepening investment cooperation in trade. in services

After the talks, Mishustin laid a wreath at the Monument to the People’s Heroes; this is a mandatory item on the program when foreign delegations visit Beijing. The premier then went to Tsinghua University, China’s number one university. In the world ranking, he is ranked 14th. Xi Jinping and his predecessor Hu Jintao graduated from this university. Three years ago, Vladimir Putin received the title of honorary professor of the university.

The institute has laboratories for the study of artificial intelligence and quantum technologies. Mishustin was given a tour. Therefore, the prime minister was shown video footage of unique drones created in the laboratory, which carried out autonomous flight in the conditions of underground galleries of pipelines of power networks and coal mines. This is extremely difficult for drones due to the narrow corridors, poor lighting, and dust. Mishustin also saw the RUSH microscope, which for the first time in the world allows the brain to be viewed simultaneously at the level of cells, tissues, and the entire organ.

After the inspection, Mishustin spoke with students from Russia who are studying at the university. In total, there are now 60 Russian students at Tsinghua.

– Where will you work after graduation? -Mishustin asked the students hoping to return to his homeland.

– Both in China and in Russia. We will fly here and there,” they promised.

– The joint confirmation of titles will be done online. We made such a decision, ”said Mishustin, and at the same time, on behalf of Russian officials, he admitted to the students that he was very glad to visit China,“ during the pandemic, we miss personal communication!
