A session dedicated to the Russian-Chinese partnership was held as part of SPIEF 2023. On this symbolic day, when Chinese President Xi Jinping celebrated his 70th birthday, representatives of both countries met to discuss not only the path tour of cooperation, but also to look boldly to the future. A rich discussion awaited in the hall, during which new ideas, plans and perspectives that determine the current directions of development for Russia and China were expressed.

Alexei Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, noted “the feeling of a new page” in the history of a comprehensive strategic partnership between our countries. According to him, in the last three years, while the world was going through a pandemic, key projects connecting Russia and China were completed: the first Russian-Chinese railway bridge Nizhneleninskoye-Tongjiang, the Blagoveshchensk-Heihe road bridge and a new grain terminal in Transbaikalia.

– I would like to focus on two new peaks that we must take and that represent a serious potential for cooperation. The first is agriculture and clean eating. The second is tourism, cultural, humanitarian and scientific ties,” Chekunov added. – We invite all Chinese friends to participate in the most important projects in this direction.

Zhang Hanhui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Russia, supported his words. The diplomat stressed that today Russian-Chinese relations have entered the most favorable period in their joint history and have reached a high degree of trust and cooperation. Xi Jinping, after being re-elected, chose Russia as the first country for an official visit for a reason – this is precisely what reflects the strategic nature of our cooperation.

Thus, the commercial turnover between our countries in the last year exceeded 190,000 million dollars and the growth of trade in agricultural products amounted to 101% compared to the same period in 2022. At the same time, cooperation in the fields is deepening. of energy, space, aviation, the green economy, digitization and high technologies.

“According to the results of the last five months, Russia has moved from 10th to 7th place in the ranking of China’s main trading partners,” added Alexei Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. – This very important trend shows that we have started to realize the potential that has been building up over the years in a different way.

Addressing AS Pushkin’s words, China National Chemical Engineering Chairman of the Board of Directors Dai Hegen noted that our “sincerely indispensable friendship is more important than anything in the world and cannot be replaced by anything.”

Speaking about the challenges that the union of our countries may face, Vladimir Padalko, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, focused on three of them. These are energy and the transition to alternative fuels, AI and security in the field of IT, as well as the quality of life of citizens.

The parties confirmed that years of youth exchanges between China and Russia have strengthened the countries’ mutual understanding. For example, Hu Zhirong, Chairman of the Board of Kai Xin Rong Group, stressed that strengthening youth exchanges is seen as a powerful engine that promotes economic innovation and development in our countries.

During the discussion, the participants also discussed the practical problems of the current interaction between Russia and China.

– The most important constraint to the growth of our cooperation remains a serious shortage of specialists. To date, Russia has generally solved the problem of training personnel with knowledge of the Chinese language. But we have not fully developed the training of workers with practical knowledge of the Chinese economy, capable of accompanying complex projects, – said Evgeny Markin, Executive Director of the Russian-Chinese Business Council.

The Governor of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov added that the port infrastructure of the Northern Sea Route needs further development, and Russia will be glad if Chinese partners join this direction, realizing the potential for growth.

“Often our companies lack the knowledge and ability to communicate directly. If you look at the mentality, even elementary messengers that are currently used in Russia are often not used in China,” joined Dmitry Prokhorenko, director of foreign network development at the Russian Export Center JSC.
