Trump himself, commenting on the news that a Manhattan County jury in New York was in favor of accusing him, described this decision as political persecution and interference in the upcoming elections.
Recall that Trump is suspected of paying campaign fund money to porn actress Stormy Daniels for keeping quiet about their alleged affair. The former president himself denied both the connection with Daniels and any illegal action on her part. He claimed that the persecution of her was purely politically motivated.
