The Spanish textile giant Inditex will begin charging from this Wednesday for each online return at Zara. Given this fact, the Spanish Association of Consumers–Asescon will request a meeting with the company so that these returns with home collection are free when non-consumer issues.
In this sense, it indicates that no concept can be charged for exercising this right of consumers when there is a defect in the product. With this measure implemented by the Inditex group (which brings together Zara, Zara Home, Pull&Bear, Bershka, Oysho and Massimo Dutti), the consumer association maintains that an essential right for consumers is being limited, which is the right of withdrawal in purchases made over the internet when, for example, this product is defective.
In this regard, it adds that consumer legislation defines the right of withdrawal as the possibility that the consumer or user has to cancel the contract when it has been carried out outside a commercial establishment, without the need to justify the decision and without penalty of any kind. class.
This regulation allows the collection of courier services in the case of a return for aesthetic reasons, as long as it is reported prior to the purchase.
Therefore, it understands that this charge should not appear in the event that the return is for issues related to defects in the product that has been purchased and said return is not attributable to the consumer. To do this, he will request a meeting with the company to discuss this matter.
Inditex charges 1.95 euros from Wednesday for returns of online purchases made in any of its brands for which home collection is requested, as it had already been doing in 30 markets, including Spain.
This cost will be deducted from the refunded amount. However, the group will continue to offer free returns if they are carried out in the group’s stores.
