The Cosentino group will build a manufacturing plant in the United States, specifically in Jacksonville (Florida), which will involve an investment of around 250 million euros and which aims to meet demand in a market that represents 60% of its sales. The construction works are expected to begin at the beginning of 2025, so that the facility can be ready by the end of 2028, in accordance with the indicative calendar managed by the company.
The group, dedicated to the production and distribution of surfaces for architecture and design, has already signed a development agreement with the Jacksonville city council for the acquisition of the land where this new factory will be located, in addition to the facilities that in Cantoria (Almería) and the granite processing plant in Vítoria (Brazil).
The factory, which will be located in an area of more than 130 hectares, is expected to generate some 180 direct jobs in the first phase, according to Cosentino said in a statement. Likewise, the project contemplates possible additional expansion phases both to increase logistics and storage capacity, as well as new manufacturing lines if necessary.
North America accounts for 60% of the group’s turnover
Consentino, which created its subsidiary in North America in 1997, presented last year almost 60% of its total billing in North America (USA and Canada), where it has more than 1,400 employees. In this market, where it has its headquarters in Miami, it has an important logistics and distribution network and 60 of its own infrastructures: 45 warehouses, 10 showrooms and 5 distribution hubs. As pointed out by the Global Vice President of Sales and CEO of Cosentino North America, Eduardo Cosentino, this operation is a strategic commitment that will help the company to meet the demand in this region more effectively in the medium and long term.
In parallel, Cosentino will continue with its modernization and growth plan for the Almería industrial complex. In addition to the recent investment in a third production line, the firm has completed a wastewater regeneration station and is finalizing the expansion of its photovoltaic plant for self-consumption with the placement of some factories.
Investment of 400 million for the next three years
For the next three-year period 2023-2025, the company’s strategic plan includes investments worth 400 million euros that will be focused on actions to expand and grow its productive capacity. Likewise, continue the internationalization process based on commercial assets with more than 50 new openings planned in this three-year period, especially in Europe and North America.
