The missile is specified to have flown 989 km, reaching an altitude of 5,768.5 km, and successfully hit a simulated target in the Sea of Japan. The flight time was 4,015 seconds, TASS reports.
KCNA clarifies that this launch was not scheduled in advance. The surprise missile exercise was carried out “in a situation where the military threat from the United States and South Korea becomes so serious that it cannot be ignored,” the North Korean news agency said.
