The Cupra automobile brand has secured 22% of its sales in Spain in 2022 compared to 2021, reaching 13,476 registered vehicles, thus breaking a record again. Seat has pointed out the good evolution of its second brand this past year, which is justified in large part by the success of its Formentor model.
The Cupra Formentor, the first vehicle carried out exclusively by the brand, sold 11,621 units, while Born, the brand’s first fully electric car, is already the second most registered, with a total of 767, according to Efe.
A total of 764 units of the Cupra León were registered and 324 of the Ateca. And the Seat company has set itself the goal of turning Cupra into a fully electrified brand by 2030. The launch of the Cupra Terramar and the Cupra Tavascan is scheduled for 2024 , which will be the first 100% electric SUV, and in 2025 the urban electric car will be produced and assembled in Martorell (Barcelona).

The president of Seat and CEO of Cupra, Wayne Griffiths, underlined in an act held in June the brand’s intentions for growth throughout this year, 2023. “Our medium-term goal is to deliver 500,000 cars a year and promote our international expansion into new markets, as well as entering new segments”, he explained.
Reaching 500,000 vehicles sold will mean placing a Cupra at a level similar to that of the best times of Seat. Griffiths stressed that the growth plans of Cupra, the brand in which the responsibility of manufacturing the electric cars of the Seat company rests, it will be possible that it bills more than the ‘mother’ brand this year.
