Inoekino, together with Capella Film, returns Damien Chazelle’s Oscar-winning psychological drama “Obsession” to the big screens. The sessions will be held both in English with Russian subtitles and with professional voice-over translation. The main roles in the tape were played by Miles Teller and JK Simmons.
Obsession is a fast-paced story about the pursuit of excellence and the price of greatness, told through the relationship between a jazz drummer and his mentor. Chazelle, who also went through intense music lessons, shows the other side of the art, full of fear, cruelty and a fanatical desire for success.
The film does not develop according to the laws of a conventional musical drama: the director takes as a basis the rules of military or gangster cinema, where instead of weapons there are musical instruments and screams, and the rehearsal room and the stage become the battlefield. . “Obsession” is only Damien Chazelle’s second feature film.
