City Councilwoman Tracy Park, whose district includes Brentwood, where the legendary actress’ former home is located, said the building was sold in July and the new owners recently requested that it be demolished. It is not yet clear who the new owner is, since the purchase was made under a limited liability company (LLC), CNN clarifies.

The Brentwood bungalow, built in 1929, is currently valued at about $8 million, according to property records. Monroe lived there only a few months before his death in 1962, at the age of 36. According to the official version, he died from an overdose of barbiturates.
