The bill was presented in the session of the Legislative Assembly on Monday, February 20.
According to the new law, the Novosibirsk and Koltsovo administration will be headed by the one who will be elected by local deputies on a competitive basis. The mandate of the elected mayors will be five years.
“The procedure adopted for the election will be applied only after the expiration of the term of office of the current heads of municipalities,” the Novosibirsk region government said in a statement.
