The director of the fourth installment of Spider-Man, in which Tom Holland will play the lead role, has been revealed. The sequel to the cult franchise will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for the films “The Shack,” “The Glass Castle” and “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.
Cretton is currently in negotiations with the studio. The previous films with Holland were directed by Jon Watts, the films with Andrew Garfield were directed by Marc Webb and the trilogy with Tobey Maguire was directed by Sam Raimi.
The fourth installment will be written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Marvel boss Kevin Feige and former Sony boss Amy Pascal will produce. Production is scheduled to begin early next year.
It was previously reported that Tom Holland will star in the play based on Romeo and Juliet. It will be screened at London’s West End Theatre. We discuss it in more detail here.
