“I like the city of Moscow, I love it, that’s why I am not indifferent to its future, that’s why I actively participate in the elections,” Diana Gurtskaya told reporters after a tour of the public election monitoring headquarters in Moscow. “And I am glad that in the capital “a lot is being done for people with disabilities. For example, like other city dwellers, we can vote alone, without the help of outsiders. The joy of this feeling of independence is difficult for ordinary people to understand.”
The artist said that she participates in all elections held in Moscow and tried different options. At first, it was Braille ballots. Then, voting by computer and mobile phone appeared. In this year’s elections for deputies to the Moscow City Duma, she voted using an electronic voting terminal.
“It’s very nice that people with low vision can vote using terminals equipped with headphones,” he said. “It’s a great independence from others, the opportunity to live independently, everything is fast, clear, convenient, comfortable and exciting.”
