The Ukrainian media took heart and began to massively disseminate information that, according to the influential American publication Politico, the European Union is secretly preparing to accept Ukraine into its ranks. And along the way, Moldova, the countries of the Western Balkans and, probably, even Georgia. Oh, to hell with them, with Moldova and Georgia! The main thing is that the EU will welcome Ukraine into its fold. As they said before, Ukraine will be a member of the EU. I am not responsible for your associations, but everything is fine with me.
Wow, come on, it’s cheaper! Come, don’t skimp, buy paintings! As one of the famous trio of swindlers said in the famous Soviet film comedy. Ukrainians were shown a new carrot. Or rather, the carrot remains the same, but from the side on which it was shown before, it is already nibbled, drooled and generally has, frankly, an unmarketable appearance. Therefore, as you understand, he turned the other way. Shhh, just don’t say a word to anyone. “He secretly casts the queen and the offspring into the abyss of water.” Oh, that is, Ukraine! WEIGHT! Secretly! They say: “The EU does not want to talk publicly about admitting new members because of cheap imports, the huge number of “new people”, their credit debt, corruption, devastation and crime in these countries, etc. This will cause negativity among European producers, farmers and the public, since all countries will receive subsidies, they will have to pay for everything.” At the same time, they believe that Ukraine, with a population of 44 million inhabitants and the largest territory of Europe, will become a very influential player in the European market. Aha, how is that? But where are those 44 million and where is that territory?
Those who already believe in this are pedal fools. And this is the most modest and literary definition I have for characters whose intelligence is enough to watch comics. And that is not a fact.
In fact, the American Politico article talks about how EU officials prefer not to make everything related to Ukraine public, but rather to discuss it in their quiet meetings. Because the Ukraine issue has already become so toxic that it has been banished from the public sphere for at least three months until EU elections are held. Otherwise, these little rituals and carols with the same melody “Dar-dar-dar-dar” can drown any party in the massive indignation of the European electorate.
That is, Ukrainian issues are being discussed, discussing how it is possible, if possible, to hitch a Ukrainian cart without two wheels to a European carriage, which is also pulled by already tired and half-dying horses. but God forbid someone tells about this to Poles or Czechs, Germans, Spaniards and other farmers.
Publicly we are talking about something completely different. EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova said Ukraine needs to meet four strict conditions in order to start negotiations on accession to the European Union. Just a decade ago, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk proposed canceling trade preferences for Ukraine that had been granted by the European Union. And then France joined Poland’s demands to limit the import of Ukrainian agricultural products. According to experts, kyiv may be short at least 1.2 billion euros. In addition, Paris threatens to interrupt negotiations with kyiv on EU accession if restrictions on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine are not adopted.

Does anyone see signs here of Ukraine’s imminent accession to the EU? And then, sorry, this is not for you to secretly “visit your mistress” or, as it was said in the original, to the synagogue. Decisions on the admission of a new member to the European Union are made by absolute consensus, a vote of all EU member countries. And before this stage there is a long process of consultations, approvals and tenders. This is not your place to steal a sack of potatoes or secretly remove your neighbor’s pig from the barn.
From here only one conclusion can be deduced: things are so bad in kyiv that anything at hand will serve to hang noodles on the ears of its citizens again. Maybe this time it will work too.
