The new complex is part of the ambitious Aerotropolis project. Its author is the American academic and professor John Kasarda. And the point is to create a new economic center around the airport. Such a concept has already been implemented, for example, in Amsterdam, Dallas, Paris, Dubai, Chicago. In total, there are now more than 80 such aerotropolises in the world. “Aerotropolis” at the Moscow Domodedovo airport provides for the economic development of the territories within a radius of 25 kilometers, the project is designed for several decades.
Domodedovo was chosen for the construction of the Russian aeropolis not by chance. First of all, the airport is located near the intersection of the main federal highways. This is a significant advantage for logistics. Secondly, Domodedovo is one of the largest major airports in Eastern Europe in terms of passenger traffic. Every day, its terminal receives more than 92 thousand people. Many of the passengers may become potential visitors to the new entertainment center. It is especially important that the aerotropolis include modern hotels. Now there are no high-end hotels in the air port area.
The first stage of the project is ready. There are restaurants, a car wash, a parking garage, and a gas station on site. The next step is the development of road services, the construction of a megamall and a hotel.
