Donetsk was subjected to the most powerful shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the early morning of Thursday, December 15. The damage caused is still to be assessed, however, the mayor of the city, Aleksey Kulemzin, described the incident as the largest attack in the entire duration of the confrontation in the Donbass.
“Another war crime was committed this morning by the Ukrainian fascists. Today, at exactly 7:00 am, they subjected the center of Donetsk to the most massive strike since 2014,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

“The square at the intersection of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Avenue and Universitetskaya Street, Shkolny Boulevard, Naberezhnaya Street and the Covered Market area was under shelling,” the mayor wrote. – There are hits in residential buildings: along Vatutin Avenue, Shkolny Boulevard, Mira Avenue, 50 Years of the USSR Street, Shevchenko Boulevard, Theater Avenue.
On Bogdan Khmelnytsky Avenue, a fragment of a shell protruded directly from the asphalt of the road. Eyewitnesses report a direct hit on the student hospital building. At school No. 2, the facade and windows were damaged, and at kindergarten No. 15, windows and doors were blown out. In an apartment building on Mira Avenue, a gas main was interrupted by an explosion.

“A residential building on Shkolny Boulevard caught fire after a direct hit,” writes the mayor of the DPR capital in a public post. – Burnt cars in the parking lot near the “Capital” business center. A shell hit the dome of the Transfiguration Cathedral, there is evidence of a fire in the canteen and several DonNTU buildings.”
The emergency services are taking all necessary measures to eliminate the consequences of a missile attack.
