British musician Elton John has completed his 5-year farewell tour. The final concert took place at Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. The Guardian reports it.
I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you. You’ve bought singles, albums and CDs, and more importantly, you’ve bought concert tickets, and you know how much I love playing live. Playing for you was a source of vital energy for me, and you were great, thank you, ”said the musician.
Elton John ended the performance with “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” from the 1973 album. At the concert, the performer announced that he would “never tour again.” However, he did not rule out something “unique” in the future.
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour began in 2018. It was supposed to take place in three years, but in the end it was postponed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic and the singer’s hip injury. The tour grossed over $900 million in ticket sales. This amount was ahead of the previous record holder, Ed Sheeran. His Divide Tour grossed $776.4 million.
It was previously reported that Elton John will be releasing a collector’s edition of the “Diamonds (Pyramid Edition)” vinyl. The release is timed to coincide with the musician’s performance at Glastonbury. We talk about it in more detail here.
