‘Elvis’ and ‘Tar’: Oscar nominees announced

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 2023 Oscar nominations. The 95th Annual Motion Picture Industry Awards will take place on the evening of March 12 in Los Angeles. The broadcast was made on the official website of the award.

The Best Picture category includes James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water, Martin McDonagh’s Banshee Inisherin, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, Edward Berger’s All Quiet on the Western Front, Daniel Scheinert’s All Around the World and Dan Kwan’s Fabelmans. Steven Spielberg, Todd Field’s Tar, Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick, Reuben Oestlund’s Triangle of Sorrows and Sarah Polley’s The Women Speak.

Austin Butler, Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser, Paul Mescal and Bill Nighy will compete for the Best Actor nomination. The best actress could go to Cate Blanchett, Ana de Armas, Andrea Riseborough, Michelle Williams and Michelle Yeoh.

In the Best Director category are announced Martin McDonagh, Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Steven Spielberg, Todd Field and Ruben Östlund. “Best Original Screenplay” – “Banshee Inisherina”, “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, “Fabelmans”, “Tar” and “Triangle of Sorrow”. Best Adapted Screenplay: All Quiet on the Western Front, Knives Out: The Glass Onion, To Live, Top Gun: Maverick and Women’s Gossip.
