Due to low tide and strong winds, the iceberg ended up in the sea, more than 50 meters from the shore. Five fishermen were torn from the ground. A helicopter from the Ministry of Emergency Situations participated in his rescue.
“Before the rescuers arrived, two fishermen were able to get ashore on their own, three were left waiting for help on a detached ice floe,” said the Regional General Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
They were put on board a helicopter and taken to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
