The Estonian Ministry of Interior believes that neighboring Finland can and is even ready to receive up to 100 Ukrainian refugees per week.
Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets believes that the country is close to being able to offer help to the new refugees.
According to Läänemets, Estonia was forced to turn to colleagues in Finland “for support”. The minister, however, explained that moving to Finland is not a pressure on the refugees from the Estonian side, but a proposal for them to leave voluntarily.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs cites the following figures: to date, 66,000 Ukrainians have indicated their intention to stay in Estonia, 42,000 of them have applied for temporary protection.
