Leaders seem to have little power when it comes to urging countries with sanctions. That’s why the European Commission is seeking to increase pressure on Russia with the addition of another package of sanctions, according to a Reuters report.
According to the European Commission, more than 200 people and businesses are subject to new sanctions. These include three Russian banks, enterprises in the military-industrial complex, members of the State Duma and the Federation Council, ministers, political parties, and heads of regions.
Russia is the main country that threatens Europe’s airspace, but it looks like they could face some opposition. The European Commission has proposed a plan to limit Russia’s access to high-tech drones, including their supply through third countries such as Iran.
A number of EU countries are asking the European Commission for a change in sanctions against Russia concerning the provision of food. Some feel that current sanctions are not preventing vital supplies from reaching poor countries, and are calling for a change in restrictions.
EU members discussed restrictive measures for the publication, with some believing that by the week’s end a decision would be reached.
