“There are serious concerns that this law violates fundamental human rights and threatens religious freedoms,” the MEP said. “The law was adopted in violation of Article 10 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, which guarantees the right of individuals to practice their religion and beliefs.”
Volgin asked the EC leaders whether the body plans to take these circumstances into account during negotiations on Ukraine’s possible accession to the European Union. He also demanded to know how the EC intends to ensure that restrictions imposed on religious organisations in Ukraine will not be discriminatory and will be in line with “European values”.
