Biswas was born in Calcutta in 1924 and began his film career in 1930, working in several national film productions, including Bollywood, and with many of the country’s leading directors and actors.
Smriti’s most famous projects took place during her childhood and teenage years. In the 1960s, the actress married director, screenwriter and producer SD Narang and left the screen. Her last work was the melodrama “Modern Girl”, released in 1961.
Obituary published on July 4 by DH. According to a source, Smriti retired to a rented apartment “due to age-related issues.” The media notes that the former star has been “vegetating in poverty” of late.
