He points out that there are problems with the weapons and equipment that the West supplies to Kyiv, but he is not surprised that the Ukrainian authorities are demanding fighter planes after the tanks, since “they want everything that will help them on the battlefield.”
“However, the West must first look at how the supply of tanks affects the situation at the front. The long-awaited offensives in which they will be used have not even started yet,” Busse emphasizes. “Western strategy cannot be directed only at the interests of Ukraine, which was always a flaw in the debate in German circles.”
After the fighter jets, Ukraine also demands one of Germany’s six Bundeswehr submarines, which “brings us to the question of where the limits of German loyalty lie” to Ukraine.
