The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has asked the acting president of the Government and leader of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, to hold a meeting this week to discuss and avoid a “blockade” and the “ungovernability” of Spain, after the electoral result that has granted 137 deputies to the PP.
Feijóo has sent a letter to Sánchez this Sunday in which he presents himself as the winner of the general elections and reiterates his proposal for meetings to find out his positions and to be able to “detail” his, “in the responsibility that accompanies the candidate of the force winning political game with the purpose of establishing a responsible dialogue, for the benefit of the political and institutional stability of Spain”.
Once the count is finished and as the winner of the elections of the past 23J, I have just sent a letter to the PSOE candidate urging him to meet this week.

The PSOE demands the revision of the CERA vote in Madrid
Feijóo reminds Sánchez “the complexity that the electoral results can cause must not aggravate” uncertainties or “undermine the confidence of citizens in the capacity of our political and constitutional system to ensure the best governance in the interest of Spain.”
Feijóo’s letter was released shortly after the PSOE decided to demand the review of more than 30,000 invalid votes after the narrow margin that separated the PP and the PSOE from the last seat in Madrid.
Feijóo requests the meeting by letter
In the letter, written in the first person and in which it does not refer to Sánchez, the leader of the popular emphasizes that the force that has won the most seats is the one that must govern. “As you know, a continuous factor of governability and normality in our country throughout its entire democratic trajectory has been the recognition that the winning political force in general elections is the one that should govern, in the face of eventual negative combinations that polarize society, seriously damage territorial cohesion and push our constitutional system to the limit”, he stresses.
And it is that the new arithmetic of blocks after winning the PP one more seat to 137, and subtracting one from the PSOE to 121, makes an investiture of Sánchez complex that requires the affirmative support of Junts. Feijóo points out that “Spain does not deserve an ungovernable situation, and neither can we afford a blockade at such a relevant moment for our economy and our institutions, in the midst of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.”
“For this reason, as a candidate with the greatest citizen support, with the desire to continue the precedents of political alternation, I express my desire to hold a meeting throughout this week to discuss the issues that he outlined, to find out your positions and to be able to detail mine in the responsibility that accompanies the candidate of the winning political force”, he concludes.
