Filling a deposit at a ‘low cost’ gas station will cost 12% less this summer

Date: July 16, 2024 Time: 21:16:05

The price gap between automatic and traditional gas stations in July in Spain has warned of an average of 12%, reaching 16 cents per liter for gasoline, and 5% for diesel, reaching 19 cents per liter. These data have been provided by the National Association of Automatic Service Stations (Aesae), which analyzed the prices published on the Geoportal of the Ministry for Ecological Transition.

As for the autonomous communities, Cantabria continues to lead the price difference in both gasoline (21 cents) and diesel (26 cents). The Valencian Community follows closely with a difference of 20 cents in gasoline and 23 cents in diesel.

For 95 gasoline, Catalonia ranks third with a difference of 20 cents, followed by Aragón (17 cents), Galicia, Andalusia, Asturias, La Rioja and Navarra (16 cents), Extremadura (15 cents), Castilla y León, Castilla La Mancha and Madrid (14 cents), while Murcia presents a difference of 12 cents and the Balearic Islands of 10 cents.

Twenty provinces reach the difference of 20 cents

On the other hand, in the difference in diesel prices, the third position is occupied by Andalusia (21 cents), followed by the Basque Country (21 cents), Galicia (20 cents), Castilla y León and Extremadura (19 cents), Castilla La Mancha , Aragon and La Rioja (18 cents), Asturias, Catalonia and Madrid (17 cents), Murcia (14 cents) and the Balearic Islands (12 cents).

At the provincial level, and in gasoline, Castellón with 26 cents is the one with the greatest difference. It is followed by Tarragona (24 cents), Cantabria (21 cents), Jaén, Girona and Huesca (20 cents), Ávila, Barcelona, Huelva and Valencia (19 cents). On the other hand, the provinces with the smallest difference are Salamanca, Palencia, Toledo and Murcia (12 cents) followed by Segovia and the Balearic Islands (10 cents).

As for diesel, Jaén once again breaks the difference record, reaching 28 cents per liter. For the first time in Spain, twenty provinces reach the difference of 20 cents in diesel and none of them falls below twelve cents.

A saving in refueling between 10 and 11.5 euros

According to Aesae’s calculations, the difference in price can mean a saving in a 60-liter refueling of almost 10 euros in gasoline and 11.50 euros in diesel per vehicle, which yields a total saving of about 490 million euros. euros for the entire ‘Operation Exit’, adding the savings that it would mean for the 49 million trips that were registered last year, according to data published by the DGT.

The president of the Aesae, Manuel Jiménez Perona, considers that the reasons for this increase in the price difference are “the clear commitment of the automatic stations to maintain competitive prices, despite the great demand that is expected due to the strong mobilization of vehicles that will be there during this month, where it is estimated that they will have to refuel a minimum of two times on the way”.

He also pointed out the recent threat of an increase in the price of oil which, in his opinion, is applied earlier in the big brand gas stations than in the independent gas stations. “This is the well-known ‘rocket’ effect for sales price increases and ‘boom’ for sales price decreases, which is characteristic of traditional seasons,” he said.
