The film’s director, David Tkebuchava, stressed that his project is educational.
In the story, young Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky, son of Yuri Dolgoruky and grandson of Vladimir Monomakh, returns from Byzantium, where he spent several years. His most cherished dream is to rule his homeland of Suzdal, making it the new, prosperous heart of Russia.
However, the imperious Yuri Dolgoruky sees in his son only an obedient instrument to carry out his will. Unwilling to accept the imposed role, the heir to the grand ducal throne rebels and proclaims himself an independent ruler. Fortune is on Andrei’s side, his principality grows powerful, but his enemies do not sleep and weave intrigues around the prince.
The role of Andrei Bogolyubsky is played by Alexander Golubev. The film also stars famous Russian actors: Sergei Bezrukov, Alexander Baluev and many others.
The film’s director, David Tkebuchava, noted that the project is primarily educational, because Andrei Bogolyubsky is a little-known figure to the general public.
Experts also looked at the first shots of the film. The props and costumes, in their opinion, do not stand up to criticism from the point of view of historical accuracy. So reenactor and publicist Klim Zhukov spoke out quite harshly on his Telegram channel:
“You see people (actors – ed.) with aesthetically disgusting homemade products, which Tolkien students once used in 1990-1998 due to corruption and poverty. Well, it is understandable for them, they played elves for their money away from the people. I will feed the dear public THIS. Excuse me, when you start this craft, first a powerful stand-up with an analysis of all your “stuck things” awaits you.
