One of the Finnish TV channels showed a Russian documentary “Miracles on Ice”, which tells about the Soviet hockey team, known as the “Red Machine”.
According to the local publication Helsingin Sanomat, the film, produced in 2015, had very high audience ratings: more than 150,000 people watched it. However, some of the reviews were critical, as some consider it inappropriate to show films from and about Russia, succumbing to widespread anti-Russian hysteria in Western countries and aspirations to “cancel” Russian culture.
Meanwhile, Sasha Inoken, head of the TV channel that aired the film, said he “understands the negative reviews” but believes it’s important to be able to talk openly about Russia. In addition, the film is really of very high quality, she stressed.
