It is noted that the event occurred on April 29, 2022, when the minister was giving a speech. According to eyewitnesses quoted by the Finnish broadcasting company YLE, Lintilä appeared “slightly drunk”.
However, the scandal arose only on March 3, when an anonymous report was published in one of the newspapers about the possible alcohol abuse of the minister.
Annika Saarikko, chairwoman of the minister’s Center Party, said she was unaware that the drink had affected her work. Matti Vanhanen, speaker of the Finnish parliament, also spoke in defense of his party ally. He called out the accusations against Lintil harassment.
It was previously learned that in one of the messengers, allegedly on Lintil’s behalf, images were sent to a group of MPs ridiculing Prime Minister Sannu Marin.
Parliamentary elections will be held in Finland on April 2, which will determine the new composition of the Cabinet.
