The first image of the upcoming biopic ‘Back to Black’ about Amy Winehouse has been released. British actress Marisa Abela appeared in the photo in the image of the singer. She previously starred in the HBO series The Industry.
The film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, best known for 50 Shades of Gray and Becoming John Lennon. The script for the latter was written by Matt Greenhalgh, who also wrote the screenplay for “Back to Black.”
According to Variety, “Back to Black” will show “Amy Winehouse’s colorful London years in the early 2000s and her eventful path to stardom.” The title of the biopic refers to one of the singer’s singles.
Work on the image has been going on for several years. It will be released by StudioCanal. Production on the film will begin on January 16 in London. The project will be produced by Alison Owen, Debra Hayward and Tracey Seaward.
Earlier, Sony Pictures shared an excerpt from the biopic about the popular American singer Whitney Houston I Wanna Dance with Somebody (“I want to dance with someone”). The film opened in the United States on December 21.
