The Direct called The Flash the biggest box office flop in superhero movie history. According to journalists, the picture will bring Warner Bros. loss of $ 200 million. Andy Muschietti’s project was released after years of production problems, disputes and even two delays.
The film was a financial fiasco. Rates from the first to the second week decreased by 72.5%. This is the biggest drop in DC history. And it happened after an already disappointing opening weekend. Ezra Miller’s highly anticipated DCEU solo film made a mere $5.23 million in its third weekend in US theaters, bringing its domestic take to just $99 million.
Due to The Flash’s $220 million budget (and $150 million for promotion), the film is likely to bring Warner Bros. around $200 million in losses. This will be the studio’s biggest financial flop for a superhero movie.
The top 10 highest-grossing superhero movie flops include Shazam! Fury of the Gods (minus 150 million), Wonder Woman 1984 (minus 137 million), Dark Phoenix (minus 133 million), Suicide Squad: Mission Bullet (minus 130 million), Black Adam (minus 100 million), Fantastic Four (minus 100 million) and Phantom Patrol (minus 92 million).
