Food embargo extended until 2023 KXan 36 Daily News

Date: February 3, 2023 Time: 06:55:02

The food embargo in Russia has been in force since 2014. Since then, these measures have been extended every year. The supply of certain types of agricultural products, raw materials and food products, the country of origin of which is the state that has decided to impose economic sanctions on Russian legal entities and (or) natural persons, is prohibited. In particular, beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish, cheese, milk, fruits, vegetables and other products are prohibited.

The embargo was introduced in three stages: since 2014 – in relation to the countries of the European Union, the USA, Australia, Canada and Norway, since 2015 – in relation to Iceland, Liechtenstein, Albania and Montenegro, since 2016 – in relationship with Ukraine.

Federal authorities have repeatedly pointed out that the introduction of counter-sanctions allowed Russia to get rid of dependence on imports in many areas, for example, in the production of meat and meat products, as well as cheese.
