The new Ford Explorer for Europe is the technical twin of the Volkswagen ID.4, with which it coincides in size with a wheelbase of 2,770 m, but at the same time the “American” is noticeably shorter – the length of the body is of 4.45 compared to 4.58 m. This hit the volume of the trunk, which turned out to be less than that of the Volks, as much as 93 liters and it is 450 liters. But the width of the Explorer has surpassed the ID.4 by about 2 cm – 1.87 m.
In the interior of the Ford Explorer, the front panel with a neat little screen attracts attention – only 5 inches and a projection screen is not provided. But multimedia Sync has a 14.6-inch touch screen, but the orientation of the tablet is not the only and not the main trump card of the system. This tablet has twenty intermediate tilt positions. Above the multimedia there is an “island” with a speaker and an LED backlight strip.

The central tunnel is devoid of a gear selector, and the dual-zone climate control, heating, massage function and others are “sewn” in multimedia.
So far, three modifications have been announced. The basic version of the Ford Explorer is equipped with a 170 hp electric motor. on the rear axle and a traction battery with a capacity of 52 kWh. The mileage numbers are still in the clarification stage, but the approximate autonomy is 350 km.
The second version is more powerful and with greater autonomy: the engine already produces 286 hp, and the 77 kWh battery allows you to travel about 540 km.
Top “Explorer” – twin-engine, the total return is 340 km. The battery capacity is the same as the previous version. Increased power consumption – Mileage reduction per charge – 490 km.
The Ford Explorer will only go on sale next year. The reception of orders will open in autumn 2023, but the starting price has already been announced: 45,000 euros.
